Job Description

The mission of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees and the public. As a core member of our Human Resources Talent team, the Physician Recruiter for faculty positions will be instrumental in growing MD Anderson's leadership and physician pipeline in the years ahead. This position is responsible for managing the entire recruitment life cycle for faculty, ensuring a seamless, high-quality experience for both candidates and hiring leaders. Collaborating closely with institutional leadership, you will design and execute strategic sourcing initiatives aimed at attracting top-tier talent and building a strong talent pipeline. The Physician Recruiter will prioritize projects and searches based on strategic objectives, aligning recruitment efforts with the institution's long-term goals. The role will not only focus on fulfilling current hiring needs but also on building a sustainable, talent pipeline that supports MD Anderson's ongoing growth and success.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Candidate Management The Physician Recruiter is responsible for providing strategic oversight in managing candidates, as well as internal and external clients, including administrators, physicians and peers. This includes coordinating assignments, monitoring progress, and addressing any challenges that may arise, all while ensuring recruitment efforts meet established milestones and objectives. They will effectively communicate the strategic vision and provide regular status updates, keeping all parties informed and engaged throughout the recruitment process. The Physician Recruiter's responsibilities also include:
  • Post and manage requisitions in the Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
  • Track candidate progress in the ATS, communicating status updates throughout the recruitment process.
  • Update and maintain internal Candidate Relationship Management (CRM) system.
  • Manage LinkedIn and/or other project databases to effectively house prospects, sources, and candidates, ensuring data integrity and easy accessibility.
  • Conducts interviews and keeps candidates abreast of the status through the search process.
  • Present screened candidates for consideration to hiring leader and/or search committee.
  • Interview and disposition candidates accordingly.
  • Extend job offers and handle offer negotiations.
  • Ensure an exceptional candidate experience throughout the recruitment process.
Process Management
  • Collaborate with clients, Strategic Business Partners, and HR Rewards & Recognition to ensure position descriptions are aligned with market standards and effectively support institutional business objectives.
  • Ensure all necessary approvals and documentation are obtained before initiating the recruitment process.
  • Work closely with the Director for Academic Affairs or department leadership to schedule client meetings, coordinate interviews, and manage assessment requests.
  • Regularly update internal databases and platforms with the most current search information. Current platforms include TALEO, Faculty Career tracker, FLS Dashboard for Chair Searches, COMPASS, Tenure Tracker, and FAA Central Application, along with other platforms being developed.
  • Collaborate with the Visa Office to facilitate work authorization processing and approvals as required.
  • Provide timely updates to Clients, Candidates, and the Physician Recruitment team throughout the recruitment process to ensure transparency and efficiency.
Partnership, Strategic Initiatives and Operations The Physician Recruiter will build and cultivate partnerships across teams, departments, stakeholders, and leaders within the organization. This role works closely with leadership, cross-functional teams, and key stakeholders to ensure alignment, drive strategic initiatives, and enhance operational efficiency. Along with the Director of Academic Affairs or department leadership, the role will oversee day-to-day operations to ensure the timely delivery of searches. They will provide regular updates to key stakeholders, proactively identifying challenges that may hinder progress, and developing actionable strategies for successful outcomes. As a trusted advisor to hiring executives, they will cultivate and sustain positive relationships to anticipate and fulfill recruitment needs. In collaboration with the Director of Executive & Physician Search and the Director of Academic Affairs, the Physician Recruiter will use change management and performance improvement tools to optimize resource planning and drive operational efficiency, may include, but not limited to: processes, procedures, policies, recruitment techniques to recruit physicians, etc. The success of this role will not only improve operational efficiency but also foster a positive candidate and employee experience, ultimately contributing to higher employee satisfaction and retention. Furthermore, the recruiter's efforts will directly support the achievement of broader HR Division and institutional goals, ensuring that the organization attracts and retains top-tier talent that aligns with its long-term vision and growth. Other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

Required: Bachelor's Degree in a related field. Preferred Education: Master's Level Degree

CERTIFICATION

Preferred: SHRM, CBP, CCP and/or CEBS, PMP or similar designation. Physician/Provider Recruitment Professional (CPRP) certification from the Association for Advancing Physician and Provider Recruitment (AAPPR)

EXPERIENCE

Required: Seven years of human resources experience to include five years of experience in sourcing and recruitment of academic faculty leadership and physicians. Ability to lead and manage multiple searches simultaneously in a fast-paced, results-driven environment. May substitute Bachelor's degree with additional years of equivalent MD Anderson recruitment experience on a one-to-one basis. Preferred Experience: Experience in an executive or physician search firm. Onsite Presence: While the position is considered Hybrid, the Physician Recruiter will be expected to be onsite occasionally to assist with candidate visits and attend certain faculty and team functions.
