The Creative Technologist works well in an open and collaborative workshop environment. The Creative Technologist is responsible for maintaining a functional and safe makerspace that supports maker users with a keen eye towards potential business, patent, or manufacturing start up potential among makerspace users. The Creative Technologist is also responsible for developing programming that brings creatives together to foster a think, design, build, and implement culture within the makerspace. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Makerspace (100%) : Works cohesively in a team environment with the Business Incubator Manager, Delta Library staff, City staff, and volunteers to create and promote makerspace programming. Works to support users of the makerspace in product, market, and business development. Assists the Business Incubator Manager with implementation of all EDA funded programs. Implements programs, trainings, and events targeting small businesses and entrepreneurs. Provide safety and equipment training, as well as one-on-one and group coaching and instruction to users of the makerspace. Refines and implements policies to ensure access and safety for Makerspace users Facilitates and provides regular maintenance and cleaning of the makerspace, tools, and equipment, and takes steps to repair or replace malfunctioning equipment promptly. Develops maker programming, conducts or facilitates one-on-one and/or group classes, and coordinates with partners and volunteers using the tools, materials, and processes in the makerspace. Establishes and maintains relationships with local area creatives, makers, business owners, and entrepreneurs for programs and outreach events in coordination with the Business Incubator Manager, City staff, and Delta Library staff. In coordination with the Business Incubator Manager, Delta Library staff, and City staff, recruits and trains local volunteers for the makerspace. In collaboration with the Business Incubator Manager, creates standards, maintenance procedures, and operational procedures for the makerspace; and documents new procedures. Works to promote makerspace activities via City and Delta Library communication channels. Maintains fixed asset inventory information for equipment and software in the makerspace. Recommends and helps to secure additional equipment and software to meet the needs of the maker community. Works as a team with City IT counterparts and applies City recognized best practices while adhering to general IT policies and procedures. Works independently with limited supervision. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to plan and carry out complex multi-day programs such as large maker events. An effective collaborator, team builder, and instructor who is skilled at leveraging the talents of others and solving problems. Strong communication skills with the ability to express ideas clearly through various methods, including written, oral, web, video, and social media. Comfortable with a hands-on approach to projects, particularly an ability to improvise with audiences of varied ages and abilities. Experience with digital and traditional fabrication. Experience supporting a variety of software suites. Experience with a think, design, build, implement processes. Bilingual desired but not required. Valid Colorado driver’s license and clear motor vehicle record. Reliable transportation (may be required to use during work hours). EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a related field. Two (2) years minimum of technical training with additional instructional experience in a makerspace or similar educational setting. Experience with two (2) or more of the following or related technologies: 3D printing and scanning, digital design software, wood/fabric/metal fabrication, or other related makerspace technologies.

Proficient in English. Other languages helpful.
